To be fair a lot of people here bash anything with rivets and fender flares and stretch and that pretty much encompasses most of the car scene in Japan.

I commented there and basically said that. We don't usually like stanced cars and stanced cars tend to be Japanese. It's not our fault they have awful taste. But to call us all out and say we don't like Japanese cars is just ridiculous. This isn't Motor Trend Forums.

We should probably try to find some good examples on Jalopnik and OPPO of our "anti-japanese nonsense". Seems like a fun game.

I detest Japanese cars so much that I took a driving test in a Honda Pilot and DD a NA Miata. Japanese cars suck, what with all their reliability and practicality and cheap running costs. They're terrible.

Remember that one horrible japanese supercar that was superbly balanced and was made with the same stuff you find in any Accord, so it was cheap to maintain and could run til judgement day? And is now obtainably priced?
Wasn't that just the worst thing ever? *sigh* Japan. When will you learn...

Well to be honest, they have a point. If you exclude all of the awesome Japanese cars (your supras, skylines, rx7s Brz's, we obviously love those) and you exclude all of the crappy Japanese cars (your 30 year old shitbox Datsuns, old corollas and what have you) we do, generally hate them.

I like to knock Korean cars because of a bad personal experience with one. It's biased and largely unfounded, but when a POS 2.4L NA Kia needs a $1200 clutch 10 years after manufacture, well...

I asked the wheat guy for examples.
I hate on Honda for not producing enthusiast vehicles anymore, I'd say that's pretty fair criticism.
I cut Toyota slack for the Camry and whatnot because the Toyobaru is so good and I love the LFA. The current Lexus design language is beyond awful though, and the new Corolla is equivalent to what for did with the 2008 Focus 'redesign'.
Nissan, meh. I don't like the NV NYC cab or the London cab. It just seems wrong to me, like it detracts from the native landscape. The Infiniti QwhateverthenewGis leaves me cold. I like the GT-R alot though.
I love Mazda and Subaru
I certainly don't hate Japanese cars. Every one of the Japanese Big 3 has a car I absolutely adore(AE86, 300ZX, NSX, and far more than that).
Obviously he wasn't singling out any one poster here, maybe referring to the Jalopnik editors rather than us posters, but I don't know where the notion that we hate Japanese cars would come from. The ideals he says Speedhunters follow seem to in line with ours. They just have more stance, I guess, I've never even been to their site before this so I don't really know. I just see an ugly Toyobaru.

Probably 60k. It's not that the clutch needed replacing - My current DD is in need of a clutch. I can get a low-end new clutch for my car for ~$150. Higher end ~$500. (Obviously there are super-high end Stage 14 quintuple plate 35 puck racing clutches for $750,000, but I don't need all that). The engine in my car is a low-end racing engine. The engine in that POS Kia was just that: a POS. Why the hell does it require a fancy-dancy $1200 clutch?
That was my feeling anyway. Particularly after we bought the thing used a year earlier for $3K. It's always hard to justify spending ~50% of the car's value on a single part. It's even harder to justify when the car sucks ass.

Listen, I'm all for crazy race builds and making a car as fast as possible, but can this much camber actually be beneficial?

I hear you. I'm not looking forward to the day when I have to replace the clutch on mine, but hopefully it will keep going strong for another 40k.
